To help you get to know our company better, we’re pleased to share a few snippets about the individuals of who make up our corporate leadership team.


BILL LALLY, JR.
CEO

As CEO, Bill is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Janel Group organization. A lifelong Janeler, Bill gained his expert knowledge of the operational and commercial aspects of our business by working his way up and performing almost every job in the company at one time or another. A dynamic leader, Bill’s innate curiosity complements his very interactive style, as he regularly engages team members at all levels on their ideas about growing and improving our business and serving our customers.

Bill is a Chicago native (Sox fan) and a graduate of the University of Illinois – Chicago. Now a father of three young children, Bill and his wife, Lisa, reside in Florida. They enjoy family vacations, exploring new restaurants, and visiting the Disney parks.


Cassie Powers

CASSIE POWERS
CFO

Cassie joined Janel Group in 2021 with a decade of accounting and financial leadership experience across multiple industries. She quickly acclimated to the nuances of the freight forwarding industry and is now responsible for guiding all strategic and operational aspects of Janel Group’s financial and accounting functions, in partnership with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors. Cassie leads a team of highly-respected accounting professionals based in both the Garden City, NY, and Houston, TX, offices.

Coming from a family of accountants, Cassie’s professional passions and career path formed early in life. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware and holds the CPA designation. On the personal side, Cassie is a self-described “reality tv junkie” and loves spending time with her family and many close-knit friends. She and her husband, Mike, reside on Long Island and recently welcomed their first child.


John Onorato

JOHN ONORATO
President, Global Forwarding Division

John brings a 30-year leadership background to his role guiding the Global Forwarding Division. He combines the rigorous thinking of his engineering background with the entrepreneurial spirit and passion for serving customers from his time as a business owner into a zeal for streamlining operations, developing talent, and growing the organization.

After earning a B.S.M.E. degree from Texas Tech, John began his career in the pipeline sector of the oil and gas industry before transitioning into freight forwarding. He founded and led his own logistics firm for 7 years before it was acquired as Janel’s first investment in the Gulf Coast region. John served in a regional role before becoming COO and most recently, President of the division.


Randy Cockrell

RANDY COCKRELL
President, ELFS Domestic Trucking Division

Responsible for leading the Domestic Trucking division of JGI, Randy is an industry “lifer” who combines his entrepreneurial instincts with his people savvy in guiding and growing the business every day. Randy was one of the founding partners of the ELFS organization, helping grow the company to great heights over two decades before it became part of Janel Group in 2021.

Randy is an empathetic leader who enjoys working with people. A career-long business development professional, he enjoys all aspects of sales leadership, from the competitive thrill of closing major accounts to the pleasure of helping young team members grow their skills, abilities, and accomplishments.

Randy graduated from Texas State University and now resides with his wife, Genny (“the love of my life”), their three daughters (Olivia, Ella and Ava), and a female dog named Bailey in his hometown of Houston. He is an avid sports fan, loves to play golf, and enjoys Mexican food, country music, and rooting on the Astros.


Michael Brisciana

MICHAEL BRISCIANA
VP, Human Resources

Michael brings 30 years of HR experience across multiple industries to the task of addressing the people-related needs of a fast-growing organization. A published author of multiple HR-related books and articles, his special areas of focus over the years have included employee communications, policy development, performance management, training and development, and merger and acquisition integration.

Michael and the HR team deeply enjoy supporting the needs of the leadership team, managers, and employees in growing and developing the organization in an ever-changing industry and global economy.

An avid amateur photographer of landscapes and city scenes, Michael enjoys traveling and exploring new restaurants. A native Long Islander, he remains a die-hard NY Mets fan and roots for all New York teams.
